Welcome!
It's been a long strange trip. Not long after updating this site almost a year ago, chock full of enthusiasm and plans for creativity and grand plans, I was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer, caught as an outlier in that CT scan smokers get annually. I was lucky that it was caught so early, most don't have that chance.
It was at that point that I got a whole new appreciation of the patient experience from a well-integrated healthcare system as implemented by Kaiser Permanente. I've actually worked on their systems a number of years ago consulting on the architecture of what is now deployed. The velocity of care I received alongside the sticky connectedness of information across all the KP specialists and personnel feeding a Patient Portal that could use some lipstick but is still very useful to me the patient was instrumental. Several of the doctors on my team are multi-year recipients of Best Doctor by either Baltimore Magazine or Washingtonian.
It was a rough time for a bit, but I am fortunate to have a partner like Nina who watched over me and, at one point just after surgery, saved my life when she forced me to go to KP Emergency to get checked out. I was in the hospital for a very un-fun week. My son came into town to help take care of me after that bit of entertainment at St. Joe's. Friends and family got me through it.
I'm officially in remission now and will be re-engaging my art. i have a line of accessories for folks who need or embrace recreational and medical cannabis. I have a Coffee Table set that we've been using for a while and I really like it. More to come on that stuff for sure.
Stay well. Stay happy. If it ain't fun, don't do it. Say I love you. Enjoy the little things.
